Who we are
SecondSell is run by a small group of KU Leuven students in Leuven. We provide the place where two students find each other; the agreement about the item itself is between them. By creating an account or posting a listing you accept these terms.
SecondSell never handles money, delivery or payment. If something goes wrong with a deal, we can't reverse it.
Your account
- One account per person, with a real display name other students can address you by.
- You confirm your email address before you can post or message; that is how we keep SecondSell to real people.
- Keep your password to yourself. What happens under your account is yours.
- Browsing needs no account and is open to anyone.
Listings
Post only things you own and are actually handing over: a real item, at the price you mean, in the condition you describe, with photos you took yourself. Mark it reserved or sold when it is, so nobody travels for nothing.
SecondSell is for second-hand things. It is not for:
- rooms, flats or any kind of housing — post those where they belong
- anything illegal to sell or own in Belgium: weapons, drugs, counterfeit goods, stolen goods
- alcohol, tobacco, medicines or animals
- services, jobs, tickets to resell above face value, or anything that is really an advert for a business
We remove listings that break this, and accounts that keep doing it, without notice.
Messages
Messages are for arranging a hand-over between two students. Keep them civil and keep them on topic. Conversations stay readable for both sides after a sale. We can read them when we investigate abuse, and we can remove accounts that use them to harass, scam or spam.
Photos and what you write
What you post stays yours. By posting it you let us show it on SecondSell, in search results and in link previews, for as long as the listing is up. Only upload photos you took yourself, of the thing you are actually selling — no photos of other people, and nothing you don't have the right to share.
Listings from Facebook
Some listings are copies of public posts from KU Leuven buy-and-sell groups on Facebook, labelled as such, with a link to the original. We show them so the catalogue is worth searching; we do not vouch for them, and you deal with the poster on Facebook, not here. If a post is yours and you want it off SecondSell, email us and we remove it.
Our role and what we promise
SecondSell is offered as it is, for free, by students in their spare time. We do our best to keep it up and its content clean, but we don't check every listing, we don't guarantee that any item, price or person is what they say, and we are not a party to any deal. Meet in a public place, check the item before you pay, and use your judgement.
We are not liable for losses that come from a deal between students, from a listing that turns out to be wrong, or from SecondSell being unavailable. Nothing here limits rights the law gives you that can't be limited.
Changes and the law
We may change these terms; the date at the top says when we last did. If a change matters, we say so on the site. Belgian law applies, and the courts of Leuven are the place for any dispute that can't be settled by talking.
